Our Spa: “What to Expect”

A visit to a day spa should be a blissfully relaxing experience, and not a stressful occasion. With a bit of research and preparation, you can be certain that your spa visit at Innovations will be so enjoyable that you’ll be counting the days until your next spa getaway with us.

Whether you’re scheduling a visit for yourself, a friend, or a loved one, you’ll want to ensure that you make the most of a day at Innovations The Salon & Spa. Even if you’ve never set foot in a day spa before, there’s no need to feel overwhelmed or intimidated. Here are some spa basics to help you prepare for a great spa experience at Innovations Day Spa.

Selection Of Treatments / Packages

Have an idea of what it is that would help you reach your goal in visiting the day spa. Is it to relax? Then massage may be in order. Ask questions to determine what type would be best. Is it to improve your skin? A facial or scrub may be what you want. Again, ask questions. Share your goals with our guest services representative and they can assist you in making the best possible decision for you.

If you plan on having more than one treatment, ask us about our recommendations regarding the order in which you receive them. Choosing the right sequence may enhance your pleasure. Some facials for example are more suitable before a body treatment, and some are more appropriate afterward. Makeup appointments should come last so that you leave looking your best.

Our health experts recommend that you receive only one heat treatment per day. Pregnant women and individuals with varicose veins should speak to a service provider prior to receiving a heat treatment. Following any heat treatment, it is important that you rest and not participate in any vigorous activity for at least one hour.

It is recommended for hair removal services (waxing), that the hair growth be at least ¼” in growth for optimum results. If you are taking any type of dermalogical medication such as Acutane, Retin-A, etc. you should let the service provider know prior to your waxing service.

The services and products offered at Innovations Day Spa are too numerous and complex in description to commit to memory (Although many of our devoted guests seem to know them all quite well). To better assist you in your spa choices we have developed a convenient price list as well as a very user friendly website for your personal reference. Either of these items will provide you with service options, descriptions, pricing, timing, cost, etc.

The brochure can be obtained at our front desk, or you could request that we mail one to you. Either way we are confident that you will find both options easy to navigate and extremely informative to your needs.

Scheduling Of Treatments / Packages

We have designed our scheduling system to ensure enough time has been set aside for your service(s). Your punctuality is greatly appreciated. For Spa services, check-in time is 15 minutes prior to the start of the service. Please understand that in consideration for all of our guests, your appointment may need to be altered, and/or rescheduled if your arrival time is greater than 15 minutes late.

With our guests and employees personal and financial respect in mind, a minimum of 4 business hours notice is required when canceling a typical scheduled appointment. For Spa packages a minimum of 24 hours notice is required. Failure to meet either of these criteria could result in a missed appointment service fee and/or forfeiture of deposit.
Innovations The Salon & Spa may offer both male and female service providers for your consideration. If you have a preference, please let our guest services representative know at the time of scheduling, so that we may schedule accordingly.

Making spa treatment reservations well in advance is recommended. At various times throughout the year a 10-12 week advance notice when booking spa packages can be typical for a Friday or Saturday spa visit. The best option is to visit during off-peak hours (It is usually easier to get an appointment during the week day/evening, than on the weekend). You will also find that during the off-peak hours your spa experience may be more relaxing and leisurely then if you were here at a busier period.

Allow enough time for your visit. Plan to spend a least 15 minutes sipping a beverage, relaxing, and chatting or enjoying some solitude. And try not to rush yourself at the end of your visit. This way you won’t have to be concerned if your visit takes a little longer than you anticipated, and you’ll prolong the pleasure of relaxation.

Anticipate how the treatment will fit into your other plans. For example, if you’re having a facial treatment that may leave your skin temporarily irritated or blotchy, you may not want to go to an elegant affair afterward. If you’ve booked a massage that will leave you very relaxed, you may be inspired to return to the office with your newfound energy – or you may prefer to go straight home and relax.

Book your next visit with us before you leave. You’ll have the best chance of getting the date you want, particularly if it is at a popular time. In doing so, you will enjoy anticipating a pleasant experience that’s also a good investment in your health and well-being.

Personal Preparation For Your Visit

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your services however, if time permits arrive even earlier and enjoy a relaxing steam shower in either our men or women’s locker rooms. This is a wonderful way to begin the relaxation process.

Allow your mind to calm down before your treatment. Busy thoughts will not be conducive to you fully enjoying the treatment.

Drink plenty of water before and after services to enhance the detoxifying and re-hydrating benefits of your treatments. In contrast, please avoid alcohol consumption and minimize caffeine intake prior to your visit as well.

Please eat light prior to and immediately following your visit, but please do eat. For your convenience Innovation’s Day Spa does offer a variety of light cuisine. When scheduling your spa services please ask about our menu as it does change seasonally.

Shaving is not recommended the day of your treatments (Gentlemen, this would also apply to you if you are coming in for a facial or peel). The products utilized for many of the cleansing and exfoliating processes can be irritating to freshly shaven or waxed skin. Although Innovation’s Day Spa does provide lockers that lock, we recommend that you not bring your valuables into the spa.

What To Expect During Your Visit

Upon arrival, a pleasant and knowledgeable spa attendant will escort you into our quiet and inviting day spa. She will review the days scheduled services with you and answer any questions you may have. You will then be escorted to the women or men’s locker room, where you’ll change into a warm robe and comfy slippers.

Innovation’s recognizes that each of our guests have your own comfort level with regards to undress. We have supplied a few references below to assist you in better understanding what levels of undress are necessary for the best treatment outcome. Keep in mind, our highly trained professionals are licensed and trained to drape towels or sheets discretely over areas not involved in the treatment and to protect your privacy at all times.
For a full-body massage, most clients undress completely, although you may choose to wear undergarments. During a massage you will be warmly draped with a large sheet at all times with only the specific area being worked on exposed.

For most body services we recommend that you undress completely secondary to the water and products used. However, as in a massage service you are draped accordingly.
For Face and Nail (Pedicure) services most clients disrobe to their undergarments. This prevents damage to clothing from any oils or skin care products. For face and nail services your robe is left on during services.

In order to provide an exceptional experience, we have a silent environment and ask that you maintain quiet conversations in all areas of the spa. We also ask that you shut off all communication devices such as cell phones, pagers, PDA’s, etc., and leave them in your lockers. This is asked so that you and the clients around you can relax… Isn’t that truly why you’re here?

Upon arrival to the guest transition area our spa attendant will ask you to fill out a brief health status review form. This will allow the service provider to review any conditions, which may be effected adversely by the treatment(s). If you have any allergies, are on any medication, experiencing any pain, pregnant, or have had any recent surgery, please let your therapists know before your treatment begins so that we can care for you properly and prevent any reactions. Full disclosure is essential to the best possible outcome. Per federal regulations this information is for the service providers review only.

Now, it’s relaxation time… soak-in the wonderfully warm neck wrap, sip on a hot mug of herbal tea, nibble on a muffin or piece of fruit, and do nothing but relax your mind and body and prepare for your service(s).

When it’s time for your service a spa service provider will lead you to a private treatment room, designed for your comfort and relaxation. At this point they will review briefly any health concerns, your expectations of the treatment, and answer any questions you may have. They will then leave the room while you disrobe to prepare for your service.
During your service please remember to communicate with your service provider. If you are too hot or too cold, let them know. If you are uncomfortable with the amount of pressure being exerted during a massage, let them know. If the music is too loud or you would rather have silence, let them know. This is for you. They want to make it a great experience for you.

Upon completion of the service(s) you are welcomed to join us back in the guest transition area to sit, relax, and soak in the days treatments. When you are ready, you can return to the locker room to change and we will see you at the front desk to assist you in scheduling your next spa visit.

Conclusion Of Your Visit

When the treatment is over, thank yourself for being good to you. If your visit was a gift from another, then thank them in kind.

Our treatments are performed with high quality and luxurious ingredients therefore, we suggest that you do not shower them off immediately after you get home so you can enjoy the full benefits of the therapeutic ingredients absorbed deeply into your skin.

Please remember to drink plenty of water and eat light after your relaxing spa service(s).
Schedule your next visit prior to leaving. This will provide you with the best opportunity to get your desired appointment times versus a last minute call and the potential for inconvenient options.

A Gratuity is not included in any of the salon or spa services / packages at Innovations. However, please note that our staff’s single goal is to provide you with a spa experience that was everything you expected and more. If we have accomplished that goal then please feel free to tip accordingly.

Prolong your spa experience. Most of our service providers will provide you with ideas and products that could be purchased and utilized at home to maximize the benefits of your spa visit. If there was a particular product that you enjoyed during your service(s) please let us know it may be available for at-home use.
